My house cleaner quit..not because of me, thankful

My house cleaner quit..not because of me, thankfully 😆So the company I use sent me a text yesterday to say that my regular lady will no longer be available to clean my house. Naturally, I was disappointed. I really liked her💔 I liked how she cleaned and her personality.

But in that same message, the woman who runs the company suggested a solution.

She could have said, "Don't worry, I have someone else for you."

Which would've been perfectly fine.

Instead, she said, "I'd love to suggest another wonderful cleaner whose help around your house you'll really love!"

Notice the subtle difference, but what a difference! 💡

One just fixes a problem. Another one appeals to my emotions and makes me instantly feel better.

Same with your website. Use your words intentionally to communicate the emotions that you actually want to communicate.

Your portfolio page can do so much more than just showcase your work. If yours features just photos....you can do soooo much better.

Honestly, I'll be the first one to admit... sometimes a picture is really worth a thousand words and can do the talking and selling on your behalf...

...but there are so many incredible designers out there. Here, actually, right here on IG! As an interior design copywriter, I follow thousands of designers on this app and all the photos they post are scroll-stopping-beatiful!

Do these photos tell a story? Do they explain what you've done in a particular project? Was it just a light revamp of the space or a complete gut? What considerations went into design? What inspired it?

Your work may speak for itself, but it needs words to provide context, highlight the value you bring to a project, and paint a transformation you created.

March break is in full swing in the Koyen household. And it means that only one of my butt cheeks is in my office chair 😆

I’ll be wearing multiple hats this week and testing my patience levels having kids at home🫣, while semi-working and full-on entertaining🥳.

Full disclosure, as a copywriter I am diligent and dedicated when it comes to working on client projects and giving it my all💥.

As a business owner though, I am yet to learn to draw solid boundaries, allow myself to fully disconnect, and be really unavailable when I’m unavailable.

But this week will be a good time to practice. I blocked two days off in my calendar, working early mornings on other days, with the exception of a few calls sprinkled across this week. Compromise is the name of the game 🫣
